# FUNCAP

  The diagnosis of long COVID and myalgic encephalomyelitis / chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) belongs to the complex and often debated areas of modern medicine. These conditions cannot be easily identified by a single blood test or imaging method, as they do not have one definitive biomarker.

For this reason, various international diagnostic criteria and practical tools have been developed to help define the condition, assess the level of impairment, and monitor its progression over time. In clinical practice, diagnostic questionnaires originally developed for patients with ME/CFS are also frequently used to assess specific symptoms in patients with long COVID.

The FUNCAP questionnaire is a tool for assessing patients’ functional capacity, focusing on how physical or mental exertion affects their subsequent functioning. It is primarily intended for patients who experience a worsening of symptoms following exertion (so-called post-exertional symptom exacerbation).

FUNCAP enables a more precise capture of patients’ real-life functioning in everyday situations where standard questionnaires may not adequately reflect their condition. It can be used in clinical practice, for monitoring disease progression, as well as in research studies.
